About the
Ensemble

Itai Armon presents an uplifting show of deep spiritual music, merging elements from myriad traditional music styles from the middle east and Central and Western Asia with jazz and classical music sensibilities. The music sweeps audiences away on a journey through various instruments from Azerbaijan to Turkey, from Iran to America: a journey of breathtaking vistas, of deep traditions, of wild adventures and of a search for harmony in the realms of spirit.

The show is centered on Itai Armon‘s original compositions and relies on virtuosic playing by the ensemble members: Gal Hever on oud and Qanun, Amit Sharon on percussions and vocals, Rony Ganor on kamancheh and yayli tanbur, Meron Sroya on double bass and Armon himself on the Persian tar and saz. Each show features Armon’s deep, complex compositions, interspersed with improvisations that shine a light on each ensemble member’s talent and inner world, making each show unique – a one-time-only experience, created on the spot by the musicians, and sweeping audiences along on a musical adventure.

Itai Armon’s music draws from various musical traditions of Central and Western Asia, combining elements from Turkish, Greek, Armenian, Azeri, Persian and Jewish music, complete with a jazzy sense of harmony and moves drawn from European classical music. The result is deep, fascinating, percussive, sweeping music, reflecting a deep connection with nature, with open spaces and with the humanity we all share. The ensemble has played numerous venues and festivals, including the Jerusalem Arts Festival and the Israeli Sufi Festival, as well as Bahul Fakiri Mela (India) and Al Andalus en Mexico (Mexico).
